As a 75 year-old obsolete, redundant & retired magazine photographer I am sad that nobody has taken up the mantle of Helmut Newton in this 21st century. At my age I find that the erotic is firmly (!) above the belt and in my head. Like a lot of Newton’s work I feel that it is cerebral, elegant and subtle although it can be shocking at times. I have shot erotic images for years. Above and in this blog is my approach through our Chickering baby grand piano. The above photograph is a scan of the now discontinued Fuji b+w instant film for my medium format camera. I shot it this year.
