I am now a retired magazine photographer from the last century with a memory to remember that one of the first photographs with a human being in it by Daguerre wasn’t entirely truthful. W. Eugene Smith loved to go into his darkroom with lots of music, a bottle of booze and then fix and manipulate. While Polaroids (and Fujiroids) were sort of trustworthy the advent of scanning has made them suspect. I wrote this :
