I had a wonderful career as a magazine photographer and writer. But this happened in the past century. Work began to slowly disappear in the 21st century with the retreat of good magazines and newspapers.

About five years ago I was teaching at a local (Vancouver) arts school. I told my students on the first day that if they wanted to be photographers they should have a Plan B and a Plan C. By that I meant plumbing or carpentry.

It would seem to me that in this century a good trade would be a prosperous one. Recently I took our new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze to the GM dealer. We wanted to know how to pair our cellphones to the car. Nobody in the service department knew how to do this. So even service people in car dealerships need to get smart and learn about the fact that cars are computers on wheels.

And yes your are right one must do the best one can in whatever field one ultimately falls into.
