I like that you use the word sleeper for a couple of reasons. For one a friend of mine who is a film critic thinks that Sleeper is Allen’s best film. The second reason is about 2001: A Space Odyssey. In 1968 I married my Canadian wife in Mexico City. Shortly after we saw the film in a sumptuous and wonderful movie house called the Cine Latino. I have seen it since a few times. Last night they had it on TCM and I watched it. I immediately compared it to the films made now and I found why it is that this 75 year-old man rarely goes to the movies with his Canadian wife!

While not as good as Bullitt I really liked Gossling in Drive. And yet I believe that Drive wasn’t even a sleeper.
