I strongly agree with all that you wrote things Trumpian/Lewis Carroll/Shakespeare/Kafka, etc. But I would like to respectfully point out the chasm that exists between literature written in English (even Joseph Conrad) and in other languages. Just about any novel by Saramago might apply. As an Argentine I could site several stories by Jorge Luís Borges and Julio Cortázar that would read and almost define the American president. And we should not forget the man who invented magic realism, Alejo Carpentier. Lovely essay — yours.
