Of possible interest is the fact that Edward Weston gave one of his 4x5s to Tina Modotti. When Modotti was expelled from Mexico for being a comunist she gave the 4x5 to Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Since I am a portrait photographer my favourite portrait by Bravo is this one. I do not need to see the face to know all about the proud woman who posed for him.
