This interesting essay on IPA comes at the time when this 73 year-old non beer drinker did not know what IPA was until most recently. I have just read three Ian Rankin novels, Saints of the Shadow Bible, Standing in Another Man’s Grave and Even Dogs in the Wild. All three have John Rebus ordering IPAs from the many pubs he frequents. Now I am really curious and will have to give this beer the taste test. It will prepare me for my portrait sitting With Rankin on November 16 when he comes to Vancouver.
