What is happening to journalism ( a decline in civility among things) is happening in Medium. There are too many very young persons here giving us advice on how to write or how to get more viral reads in Medium. There are countless 5 Ways to… or How to…There are far too many people looking for angles to make us curious. To begin with I ignore all headings that include four letter words. Four letter words have lost their shock value and what is left is simpy rudeness and bad taste. I find that the most important thing is to write for oneself and ignore it if I am ignored. Writing is cathartic. I do not need an audience. I like (while objecting to them most of the time) all the new tricks being crated by the folks at Medium to make it “simpler” for us to write. The are unable to leave a good thing alone. Medium in many ways is like a two-dimensional (that’s your monitor) smart phone. They have to come up with new stuff. But in spite of it all I love Medium as a platform for my writing which is really an extension of my personal blog.
